Resident Submissions
We encourage Hillhurst Sunnyside residents to submit content for the Hillhurst Sunnyside Voice (our monthly print newsletter) and our HSCA blog. Please see the submission guidelines for the Hillhurst Sunnyside Voice and our HSCA blog below (including some helpful tips to get going!).
The Hillhurst Sunnyside Voice
The Hillhurst Sunnyside Voice is a free community newsletter that provides updates on HSCA programs and events, as well as information that applies to the residents and businesses of Hillhurst Sunnyside. Please visit the Hillhurst Sunnyside Voice page for more information about submission guidelines and deadlines.
The HSCA Blog
We welcome residents of the Hillhurst Sunnyside community to submit content to our blog (this can include photos, community updates and/or any important stories in or around our community). Content can be emailed to Stephanie.c@hsca.ca (please include ‘Blog Content’ in the SUBJECT line). Content will be shared and posted at the discretion of our editor. Not sure how or where to start? Check out our tips below:

Blog Tips
Keep it casual! Write as though you’re having an informal conversation with someone—whether you’re just relaying information or sharing a story or anecdote.
Keep it brief! This can be difficult but if you want readers to commit to reading your entire post, short and sweet is best. Please ensure your word count does not exceed 500 words (we recommend 300-500 words).
Include photos and hyperlinks! What’s better than having some photos to go along with your post? In the digital era, photos can capture a lot of information (very helpful with a limited word count) so why not snap a few photos to include? Hyperlinks go a long way, making life easier for writers and readers alike while also adding credibility to your post. Please include a list of hyperlinks and/or any online resources that our readers can access. Take a look at some past examples on our blog for ideas. Please ensure all submissions are in .doc format and attach photos and images separately in .jpg or .png format please.
Think about the blogs you like to read! Do you enjoy blogs that make you laugh? Inform you? Have lots of pictures? Think about what you enjoy reading and create content based on this.
Have fun! This is probably the most important part. We recognize everyone has a different perspective and voices and we encourage all community members to get involved. This is why we encourage kids and adults alike to also share art, drawings, or other mediums beyond the written word.
